Vibration in the rear passenger side

Riding fine. Had to change rear break pads and ever since then when you get up to around 45 mph and slowing back down there is a vibration but if you keep it under around 40 mph it doesn’t do it.

Hi Beagleman,

When you replaced the pads in the rear did you replace the rotors as well?

There is an option for rear drum brakes as well but you said "pads" so I just want to make sure you have rear pads and rotors.

If you didn't do anything with the rotors and you now have a vibration, most likely it is because you have warped rotors. They either need to be turned or replaced in order to correct this.

No I didn’t. How come it does not do it all the time? Just when I get that certain speed. I could drive it ten miles on a back road and it doesn’t do it just when I get it up over 45 50. I’m definitely no mechanic. Just curious. And thanks!

Haha. No problem. The reason is because of the speed. They probably are not warped that badly so when they are spinning slower you can't feel it. There is still a vibration but you can only feel it when you get them spinning faster and then apply the brakes which puts the pressure on the rotor.

Keep in mind, this could be wrong but based on what you said, I am confident that it is correct.

Okay! Thanks. one more thing. it does it like that even when I let off the gas without hitting the brakes and you can tell the vibration is going with the turn of tire.

Okay. It could still be the rotor because the pads are always making contact with the rotor but make sure your wheel is on tight. I had a loose tire do that and it actually came off while I was driving (not fun).

I would just go back over what you did. Remove the tire and inspect the brakes. Make sure the rotor spins freely when you are not pressing the brakes and then reinstall the tire and torque the lug nuts to 95-100 ft-lbs and drive it again and see if it still does it.
