Vibration in cabin

Engine bay is clean, I checked engine mounts and they don't feel like they are moving and I don't feel a jerk when I hit gas and brake to check them. But inside the cabin there is a vibration that is worse when the car is cold. Vibration does not change if it's in neutral park or gear, and transmission shifts like it should so I know it isn't the torque convertor. Once you drive of course you don't feel anything, only when idling. You probably won't hear or see anything in the video but no change in the vibration with shifting gears.

Hi,

The idea that you feel it at idle does sound like a mount issue. The motor mounts on this vehicle are hydraulic and can fail.

Do me a favor. Inspect the mount and under it to see if there is any evidence that something leaked. The mount can leak hydraulic fluid and cause a vibration.

Yes, they looked good, but I will check for any leaks. But I have seen Odysseys with hydraulic mounts which didn't leak but they became so mushy, but with 130,000 it is possible. However, there are also transmission and transfer case mounts but that wouldn't cause vibration while in park.

Absolutely, but if they are the original ones, check them first. It isn't uncommon for them to fail.

No leaks at all from either one. Can you find out if the V6 has any damper mounts? I have seen videos on 8 cylinders and turbos but can't seem to find it on mine. But they sell them online and it says it fits v8 and v6.

Hi,

The mounts are the hydraulic ones I mentioned. The OEM part number is 95537504900. I would recommend getting a good after-market one because of the price. (See OEM info below)

Those are the only two I am seeing.

As far as removal and replacement, I attached the directions below.

Hopefully, it will be as easy as it sounds lol, most v8 engines require the engine to be removed. This v6 is easier, passenger very easy, driver I still can't see it before I remove the engine carrier.

No, I have done much worse things than this. As in for example on an m5 had to drop the frame to change a hose, on a v8 had to also drop the frame to change a gasket, and other things. Carrier they mean the plastic underneath skirt right?

Hi,

I think you are referring to the plastic splash cover. That isn't it (nothing ever seems to be that simple). The carrier is a steel bracket that runs under the engine. It requires the removal of the front axle, the engine is raised and supported, and so on.

The interesting thing is this. I've gone through the manual several times. According to the manual, the carrier needs to be removed. However, looking through the directions leads me to think it can be done without removal. If I am seeing things correctly, if you slightly lift the engine and support it, you should be able to remove the mounts. However, the manual does not indicate that.

Before you jump into the removal of the carrier, inspect and study the design. Determine if there is a way to replace the mounts without removing the carrier.

I attached the directions below for the removal and replacement of the carrier. Let me know your thoughts on this.

Geez. I see, so the carrier is what the mounts actually sit in. I will try to lift the motor and see if there is enough room, it may be possible, but like you mentioned, the book always tells of how things should be done the right extensive way, with no short cuts, even though a lot of us know that many things can be done in a different way. I am hoping I will be able to do it without having to remove the carrier, even though I have a hoist and other tools I can use to suspend the motor, it's just a lot more work.

I got them both out. The new ones are a bit taller I guess cause the old ones are somewhat crushed. But I doubt these are hydraulic, I have seen hydraulic ones before. The aftermarket ones look exactly like the old ones. The only problem I am having is installing passenger one. I lifted the engine as much as it could go, loosened all the carrier bolts but didn't remove them. All I am seeing is four of them. I don't think axles need to be removed. Plenty of space for the driver side I just need 1/4 inch more for the driver side. Engine is supported, so still fooling with it.

I believe there are only four carrier bolts. What if you fully remove the two on the passenger side? Would that give you the space needed?

I think the four. I loosened were the ones for frame under the carrier then I saw the ones for carrier and loosened it a bit and that gave me enough room. All good, just putting it together now.
