vehicle info display stopped working

my VID known as the vehicle information display which is the little black screen under the speedometer stop working. is there any fuses or anything i can check before taking to a dealer??

Hi,

The display is part of what is called a CAN system. CAN stands for computer area network.It is an on-vehicle multiplex communication line with high data communication speed and excellent error detection ability. Many electronic control units are equipped onto a vehicle, and each control unit shares information and links with other control units during operation (not independent).

Since this is part of the system, the CAN system needs scanned. Here is a video that explains how it's done:

I honestly feel that is what needs done in this case.
