2002 Vauxhall Zafira Two Wheel Drive Manual 84.000 miles

Our fan belt broke, the temperature went sky high and the power steering went. It has all been fixed but has happened again having only driven about 20 miles. This time the temperature sdidn't show as hot though I could smell something burning, thought the garage may have just spilt oil on the engine. What's wrong?

check all pulley's are free running replace any that are stiff to turn including alternator etc.
