I drive a 5 year old 1.8 LS petrol with 34,000 and am being told that it is vital that the cambelt is replaced ASAP. Is this correct?

HI there,

This cam belt is well past due (time elapsed) for replacement, if it fails it will do serious damage to the engine, you will have bent valves which will entail the removal of the cylinder head, get the belt changed.
