the engine managment lightcomes onnow and again, when it does, the engine power is temporarily lost. the light stays on for a few seconds then goes off, other times it may stay on longer ,what could be wrong? Can you help please.

have the car plugged into a diagnostic computer while the light is on and repost with fault codes for more assistance
