Hi there,

Check for a broken throttle cable, see if the throttle plate is moving when the pedal is pressed.

hope you don't mind me adding 2 pence worth !! if the throttle cable is good !! Have the vectra plugged into a diagnostic scanner and read and write down the fault codes ... then delete the codes to reset the PCM (cars computer) the car should rev correctly again now, but you will have to get the faults fixed that the computer is showing or this fault will re-occur ? hope this helps

Thanks guys for your answers. Our mechanic went to pick up the car and everything was checked as you both suggested but the car started straight away and he said he couldnt find anything wrong with it. Its going now, so far so good. The car has never let us down before. strange...!!!
