1988 Vauxhall Vectra Lock

The steering and ignition lock key will not turn , have spent hours trying to get it unlocked, have been told that to fit a new barrel lock I have to first get the old lock turned to the second setting and incert a wire in a small hole at the side then it will slide out, but I'm unable to get the key turned, will I have to us force ? Hope you can help,

you will have to drill the old lock out i'm afraid if you cannot get it to turn .. try using a little WD40 down the inside of the lock barrel
