1993 Other Vauxhall Models Head Gasket blown on Vauxhall Cal

Hi my head gasket is blown on my Calibra and the car has been at the garage the past week. It has a red top Cosworth engine in. The garage are now saying that the head is cracked and i might need a new engine, is this true or wil it be possible to just change the head. Please help.

you can just buy a replacement head and swap over the valves etc.
