2004 Vauxhall Meriva window wipers

When i switch on wipers they try to work but just stick then work again then slow down very slow again and stop i work ofshore been away for 3 weeks car lying idle would that have anything to do with it .

check the wiring to the motor is clean and tight .. have the motor checked !!
