lights up intermitently then activates alternator light causing starting problem

your alternator is faulty an needs replacing !! this will cure the ESP fault and starting problem .. the alternator controls battery chargeing and power steering on this vehicle !!

thanks for your reply Dave. can this also cause the dials and heater not to opperate when the fault occurs?
