2004 Vauxhall Corsa engine noise

hey.i have a 2004 1.3cdti vauxhall corsa, and i have a really loud tractor type noise coming from the engine.it is worse at low speed and tends to fade as engine speed rises.it also doesnt do it at idle.
the car has been serviced regularly and i check the engine oil every 2 weeks and have noticed no usage of oil.any ideas as to what this noise is?

check the exhaust system for leaks !
