2000 Vauxhall Corsa Front Wheel Drive Manual 104000 miles

there is a lot of black smoke coming from my 1l corsa when it is sitting in first. the smoke smells of what i think is fuel. what could be wrong and would it cost to fix?

check clean or replace the MAF sensor .. is the CEL (check engine light) showing on the dash .. if so have the cars PCM (computer) read for fault codes !
