Hi there can anyone tell me if my corsa should have a spacer on the clutch cable at the gear box end?

There is no spacer !

NO I got my uncle to look the car over cos the clutch had slipped and there's no spacer should there be one?

NO. There is NOT supposed to be a spacer. The cable could be stretched !
