hi just bought a astra econ 4 1.7 tdi 16v driving the other day and the pas went and the alternator light came on so went and got recon 1 for £85 got it fitted for another £40 when I picked it up the pas went again so took it for drive and everything went dim just managed to get it home and it the battery was tottaly flat so took battery off and got it tested said it was kncked so got new 1 for £70 put it on and everything was fine the after 3 short trips on my way home everything again went dim the car stopped after about 5 mins and the battery was totally dead and the car wouldnt start any info much appreciated

Firstly check the wiring to the alternator. If this is in good condition and secure. Use a voltmeter across battery terminals. You should be getting 13+ volts from alternator with engine running at idle. If not alternator is still bad.A common fault with vauxhalls.
