2003 Vauxhall Astra central locking

my central locking has stopped working. I can only use my fob to set the alarm now. When i use the key in the drivers door it only locks the drivers door and no others, i have to lock the passenger door manually, then lock the drivers door then press the fob to set the alarm. My local garage have told me its very expensive as i need new parts but i dont know enough to agree with them. Please help!

the fob could just need reprogramming to the vehicle your handbook should explain how to do this !
