Engine Mechanical problem
2001 Vauxhall Astra 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual

my car had an oil leak and ive had the oil pump replaced and a cam belt kit at the same time. Since leaving the garage the top end is tappy and if I take the car on the motorway the engine management light comes on, then 30 seconds later the oil light appears the garage told me not to take it on the motorway it would be fine! But that doesnt solve my problem can anyone help?

Take it back to the garage that did the repair and TELL them you want it working CORRECTLY ... they repaired the vehicle and it is their responsibilty to get it working correctly ... you paid for the repair they did .. if they couldn't do it correctly they should not have attempted the repair .. they cannot simply say "don't go on the motorway" ... the garage had a verbal contract with you to repair your vehicle and give it back to you in perfect working order .. if they do not agree to do this, explain that your lawyer will be in touch and also you will be contacting the Trading standards agency about them ..the faults you are having sound like they are still connected to the oil pump and oil supply lines so they cannot state it is not their fault .. I would be doing this ASAP as the oil system is a very important part of the engine and if it is not working correctly at ANY speed it is not good for the engine especially as it sounds like the top end of the engine is getting little or no oil supply and this may cause engine failure !!! hope this helps
