hi the alternator bearing is starting to go without taking it out how can i tell what make it is, should i go for a secondhand one, anyway of getting a cheaper one than vauxhalls,are there any copies out there that i should adviod if so how do i tell the difference, is repairing it an option.

most good autoparts stores will be able to tell you the make and model of the alternator fitted ... I would never use a secondhand (used) unit ...the best replacement would be an OEM (dealer) unit .. your cheapest option would be to have yours reconditioned ...
