Engine problem
1998 Vauxhall Astra 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Manual 130.00 miles

the cambelt on my astra broke & so bending some valves. valves were changed but not all now when the car idles white/blue smoke comes out when car is driven at 30/40 or 50 mph no smoke comes out when you rev a lot of smoke comes out. thanks for your time on this matter

Hi there,

If this was not a problem before the broken timing belt, you still have issues with the cylinder head. if they have just replaced valves, they may have missed cracked guides or damaged valve stem seals when installing. Check coolant levels as white smoke could be burning coolant. I would raise my concerns with the mechanic the did the repair.
