1997 Vauxhall Astra Two Wheel Drive Manual 15200 miles

i have a astra 2.0 hi ok the car drives really well till it trys to go over 4500 rpm it just wont go any higher its if there is something there stopping it as if its at its max can anyone help

have the vehicle plugged into a diagnostic computer to locate ant fault codes stored .. the vehicle may be fitted with a rev limiter !!
