Hi there,

I have a Mazda e2000 camper van. I have had problems starting sometimes it will start and sometimes it will not especially in winter time. Sounds like it has got plenty of battery to kick it over definitely smells like there is fuel in the carburetor. I changed the distributor to an electronic distributor thinking that might change. It will tow start real easy but sometimes will not jump start. When it is warm it starts straight away every time.

So the engine will not crank over (starter not working) or it will not run? Here is a guide that can help:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/car-cranks-but-wont-start

Please run down this guide and report back.

Cheers, Ken

Your ignition coil has moisture from the rain so it's emitting a weaker spark.. get a hot air blow dryer or small fan heater and warm up the coil and dizzy.... it will start straight away.

Truck was idling and just died. I put a new coil, cap and rotor button, still won't start. I checked the fire from the coil, no spark. I looked at the fuses under the hood, 2 30 amp and 1 80 amp, they seem okay. Any suggestions what it might be?

Check to see if you are getting injector pulse when cranking, along with the no spark. If your not getting either then I would suspect a crank position sensor.

Engine turns over but will not crank, has compression on all four cylinders, timing chain is good, battery is good, has fuel issues but still will not start even when spraying ether. The original problem was bad water pump but not will not start. Thanks for the help.
