I have talked to a couple of mechanics and a machinist about the 5.7L Hemi dropping valve seats. Any idea how many of these it is happening to? I am just wondering if I should pull the heads and take them to a machine shop before i have any problems if this is a legitimate issue. And if they can replace the seats with something other than the originals if that is the problem? Any information would be of great help.

Anyone else with information please advise. I know it happens on the 5.7 because my brother in law had a charger in his shop about six months ago that lost a seat and took out the piston.

Thanks in advance.

Hello,

Yep we had one in the shop the other day that did just that, dropped the valve seats, here is a picture of what happens at about 130,000 miles

There is not really much you can do it is just a poor design from the factory, we replaced the heads with new but we except it will happen again. sorry
