I had my car's engine checked for a check engine light that was on. I had a mechanic do a diagnostic check and found little or no compression on the number two cylinder. He suggested an engine rebuild. Would a valve job be just as good?

Hello,

It depends on where the lean is, in the piston rings then a engine rebuild. If just a intake or exhaust valve you can get away with a valve job.

The mechanic needs to do a leak down test to find out which.

Please let us know what you find.
