Unfortunately changing the seal is the only way to fix these. Some people will say you can put silicone on it but that will not last long if at all.
I am attaching the process below on how to replace this however, you noted that this was a Chrysler Royal but that vehicle was not produced since the 1950's so I assume you meant a Sebring.
