The vibration issue continues from my previous question and I am in the process of searching for possible vacuum leaks. In my research I found the suggestion that if my vehicle is more than five years old, the large hose (rubber tubing) from the surge tank to the engine should be replaced. Mine is the original. Why has replacement be advised?

Most likely because someone found that that fixed their problem. I am not seeing anything regarding that part in our reference material.
