So I brought a cheap (truck listed above with a g6 engine) that had been left sitting for a year after having a lot work done to it like; panel and paint glove box, differential rebuild, new exhaust, wheel bearings, ball joints, injectors and radiator etc, etc. It didn't start one morning and owner just gave up an left it. I have replaced fuel filter, starter, exhaust manifold gasket, battery, but now after doing approximately 1,000 kms in it it is now stalling when I take foot of gas while driving or trying to park at shops and sometimes when parked. If you rev it then drop throttle quickly it shuts off too, but only does this once at full running temperature. When cold it never stalls. What's my next step guys?

Hi,

Have you checked the basics such as for engine vacuum leaks? If not, start there. Here is a link that shows how it's done:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-use-an-engine-vacuum-gauge

Also, the idle speed switch and an idle speed idle speed control valve (ISC) need checked. I attached a pic below that shows both. Make sure the vacuum hose isn't leaking or damaged on the ISC and make sure the idle switch isn't disconnected, damaged, or corroded.

Let me know.

Joe

Hi, thanks. Yes, it has had all the regular tests done. All vacuum lines are new or in very good condition. Also has new plugs leads etc. I've gone to use it today and replaced the rocker cover seal and clean the throttle body and I've noticed a relay ticking sound coming from somewhere only when I've got clutch in. And as soon as I push it into gear the idle drops and it shuts off unless I hold gas down at same time. The idle switch works but does bump idle a bit high around 2,200.

Hi,

The idea that it can idle up to 2,200 RPM's indicates an issue with the IAC. Have you tried to service it? Take a look through this link and let me know if you feel comfortable doing it.
