upstream oxygen sensor removal for replacement?

Hi,

Do me a favor. Take a look at the pic I attached below. I circled a spot on the connector where I believe there is a plastic retainer/lock. It could be any color but usually, it will be red. If it is there, carefully slide it out. Once it is out, you will be able to depress the release and disconnect the connector.

Yes, it's a white clip and I've pulled it up but still can't pull the 2 apart. Is there any other clip? What did you mean by depress the release? Thank you.

Hi,

Make sure the clip is far enough out. It is in there to prevent the release from depressing. There should be a tab that will depress and allow the two to come apart.

If you are questioning the retainer, remove it completely. There could be enough still engaged preventing you from depressing the tab.

If you still have a problem, take a pic of the connector (as best as you can) from a couple of different angles and upload the pics for me to see. Maybe it is something different than what I have seen.

No problem whatsoever.

I copied one of your pictures. I circled the white clip in black. That needs to be removed by sliding it in the direction of the arrow. The lower portion of that clip is preventing the release of the connector.

Once that is removed, depress the lever I circled in red. While depressing it, wiggle the connector a bit and pull it apart.

OMG finally. Pull the white clip up and squeeze so that black part behind pushes in and pull two connectors apart at same time. I broke the fastener that holds it in place when I was first wriggling it to get the connectors apart. Do you know part number for fastener please?

Glad you got it apart. I'm not sure if you can even purchase a new retainer without the connector.

I did find this site. Check it out and contact them to see if they have what is needed. Also, if you still have the broken one, see if a parts store has one.

I believe the color of the retainer is related to the size. (If that helps).
