Once separated from the block, pan by torque converter hangs down but will not separate from bottom of engine.

Trying to remove upper oil pan. It hangs down but it appears that a lip of the pan extends into the transmission bell housing and is caught there. Wondering if I have to create gap between engine and transmission to release upper oil pan. I hope not. Thanks

Are all the bolts removed for the pan?

Is there a cover on the torque converter that can be removed?

I really wish you could provide me a picture so I see what you see.

Pan bolts removed, pan separated from block. Pan hangs down but will not release from transmission side.

Okay, again, is the a cover you can remove at the bottom of the converter to allow the pan to drop?

It is a small window that allows access to torque converter bolts.

Crankshaft is housed in oil pan preventing any side motions only down and lip of pan extends into transmission bell housing prevents pan to drop.

Okay, I see a bracket that looks like it is blocking it from coming down. Remove that bracket.

The bracket in this case is actually the bottom of oil pan allowing it to bolt to transmission housing.

The two 10 mm facing down lock pan to block. Releasing them allows pan to separate from block. Pan drops half an inch or so but no further.
