caused the ball joint to break on one side?

Loaned truck out and was basically super dogging it and caused the ball joint to break on one side. I cannot afford another day down. Can I just change upper and lower ball joints on one side since other is not broken go back to it Saturday next weekend?

Yes, you can do just one if you like. There is no reason to change them all when 1 fails.

The ball joint failed from impact. Sounds like a pothole or a raised street level that caused it.
