Whirring/growling noise seems to come from rear-end since 98,000 miles. All fluids changed and were clean. Six shops have looked over last two years, no definitive answer. Each says wheel bearings okay, tires fine, u-joints tight, no leaks. Noise heard at 35 mph, especially uphill. Now 145,000 miles. Noise worse! Latest mechanic called it a "roar." Says will replace pumpkin (differential) for $3,200.00 up front. Not sure it is the differential.
