my question is with the x-braces underneath the cabriolet. what are they called as i can't find any information on them and can the car be driven without these. if need to be re-fitted can new mounting holes be drilled into the frame to allow new fitment?

These are called cross members. We don't have a service manual for this vehicle so I can't provide vehicle specifics but it does appear there are other options. See attached.

You can drill holes in the frame but I would suggest patching any holes that you are not going to use with metal and welding it in.

You should not drive without this type of support because the frame is going to be twisting a flexing and not only could damage things but could also cause an accident due to losing control of the vehicle if it flexes too much.

Let me know if you have questions. Thanks
