My under-hood light was working then it’s not. Changed the bulb. Still not working. Where would I start?
Thanks in advance.

Hi,

I attached the wiring schematic for the under-hood light. Power comes from fuse 3 (parking lamp fuse) in the instrument panel fuse box. From there, power goes to the light/switch via an orange wire.

Here is what I need you to check: First, confirm the fuse is good and has power to and from it. Here is a link to help:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-check-a-car-fuse

If the fuse is good and has power in and out, go to the light and disconnect the connector. Check the orange wire for 12v power. If it has power, check the black wire for continuity to ground. Here is a link to help with testing wiring:

Do this and let me know the results.

Take care,

Joe

See pics below. Note: I had to cut the schematic in half to make it readable. I did overlap them so you can follow from one to the next. Also, the last pic shows which fuse to check.

Thanks for the fast reply! I will get on my big computer and get some old style print instead of this dinky phone. I appreciate your time and effort!

Thanks for the diagram. I followed the path and found a little glitch in the path. There is a port right before the light fixture. It had come apart and that was the problem. Have to make sure and not break the brittle vacuum line! Oops! I’ll try and include a couple of pics. Thanks! I have this forum book marked for sure.
Next is to replace the HVAC blower and resistor.
