Unable to shift out of gear. The shift handle on the column moves to freely

The shifter on the column does not engage or move any of the linkage down below. It appears to have broken something inside the column it moves from park to drive with your small finger and no resistance. In order to move the car recently I had to get under the car and disconnect the trans linkage.

Shift tube has broken. It will have to be replaced. Call a dealer for the part. The steering column has to be dis assembled to access it

I just did this on my ranger, its not all that hard, it pretty much snaps in.
Only tough part is the dash, just remember where all your screws go
