Replaced U-joint now the other U-joint is not centered

I removed the drive shaft and replaced one U-joint. when I went to replace the other U-joint I was able to remove one of the U-joint caps. Once I removed the one U-joint cap the other side cap became off-centered and I have been unable to center it properly to press it and remove it. I have used a rubber mallet to try and align it but It did not work. I then tried to use a flat head and tried to align It that way and it did not work just made it worse. How do I recenter the cap so I can replace it properly?
