Do I replace all the immediate areas parts closest to the tie rod or just the ends?

Hi,

I'm not sure what is wrong with the vehicle. If you have a faulty tie rod end, that is all that will need to be replaced. However, I don't know where the play is indicating the part needs replaced.

On this truck, you have both and inner and outer tie rod. The outer tie rod connects to the steering knuckle (closest to the tire) and the inner connects to an intermediate shaft. See pic below.

Let me know where you are finding play.

Take care,

Joe
