When installing my right rear caliper, I notice that the flexible brake hose is twisting when screwed into the brake line port. With the original caliper the hose is not twisted at all. Does this matter? Is something out of tolerance with the brake hose or caliper?

Good morning.

Yes, it is very critical. when you replaced the caliper, if it screwed into the caliper, you need to remove the other end of the hose from the metal line. Then screw the hose into the caliper. Then you can attach the end to the steel line.

You need to do this ASAP as you may have already damaged it by driving and it could fail at any time resulting in losing the brakes.

Won't that leave the body-to-hose clamp at an angle where the hose would twist when the bracket is bolted to the body?
The body end of the hose looks like it is rigid to the bracket.

There is a U clamp you remove and then loosen the line from the hose and out it comes.

Hi Roy, how tight do the fittings of the metal line have to be? I loosened the fitting to the brake hose but did not take the fitting out all the way. I straightened the hose and tightened up the fitting but the metal line fitting will not stop leaking. I think I have put it fairly tight but I am afraid of stripping the fitting. Should I separate the hose and line and clean the seats?

It needs to be very tight to handle the pressure. Give it a good pull to tighten it. Hold the hose and tighten the line very tight.
