After running out of gas the engine turns over, starts, then shuts off immediately?

ran out of gas and now won't stay running. help!!

Hi,

If this started since running out of fuel, the first suspect is the pump may have picked up dirt or was damaged.

We need to check the fuel pressure to see if it is within the manufacturer's specifications. Here is a link that explains how it's done:

You will need a fuel pressure gauge to do this, but most parts stores will lend one to you for the test.

If you look below, I attached the manufacturer's fuel pressure specifications. Let me know if you are comfortable performing this test.
