Since it happens and then restarts, it is something electrical. Most likely a bad connection. The first thing that comes to mind is the crankshaft position sensor. When they get hot, they can fail and allow the vehicle to restart or others one would have to wait till it cools.
The crankshaft position sensor is located at the same place on both the 3.3 and 3.8L engines. I'm not sure which you have. Take a look through these links and see if what is described in the symptoms link seems to mirror what you experience. Interestingly, this sensor can fail and not set a trouble code.
