Some of the connectors GM uses can be a bear to get apart. In this case that plug may have a couple small latches that you need to release to get it to come apart Note the two small notches on either sire of the mount on the top of the plug in the image. There can be a sort of barbed hook in them that you can push in with a pick or similar. However there can also be another problem with them. If you are replacing the switch because of a failing signal or dimmer, GM ran power through the switch and I have seen more than one that had physically melted inside and bonded the connection together because the plastic acted like a weld. Sometimes you can see if that is the case by looking at the wire insulation on the outside of the plugs, if it looks discolored (IE it's light blue but changes to a dark blue or tan or even brown) it has gotten hot. In those cases it can be much harder to get them apart. GM also like to use locking tabs that would slide between the connector tab and the body so that you couldn't push the release tab in and have it work. They had, red, blue, yellow and some white. Look at the release tabs and see if there is a locking tab in place, most just pull out but 20 year old plastic can be stubborn.
