tune up,distributor rotor

In the process of changing my cap,rotor and wires and its hard to remove the screw on my rotor because its in a odd position. Would hooking my battery back up and cranking my car change the position? If not what other options do I have?

just hand crank the motor around to a position you can access the screw

with the plugs out, grab the belt or the alternator and move the motor till you see the screw

Is there any way I can do it without removing the plugs?
