trying to remove fuel pump from tank

Tried very hard to pull fuel pump, but cannot get out of tank. does the black ring that affixed to tank come off. tried but it want bulge. How do we get the fuel pump out of the tank. we tried twisting but nothing happens. do we use hammer to loosen up the black retaining ring attached on the fuel tank underneath pump..

Yes the locking ringing has to be twisted a little and everything will pop up.Use a brass flat punch and hammer to give it a little turn.Just becareful not to slip and brake the fuel pump or lines.
