So, this is one of those newfangled cars that doesn't have a lock cylinder back there. The only way to lock/unlock is with the button or fob. No bypass/get around inside the car. It started being moody. Now you have to lock and unlock about 40 times before it works. I was thinking a weak actuator. I took off the panel so I could get a picture of the thing and match it up online. While I was in there, I tinkered around and figured out mostly how it works and what's not happening. Except once I closed it back up, it started working fine. Did I loosen something up? Or if it is just going to fail again in a week or two. Also, I was wondering off anything was broken out missing. I see some spots where maybe some connecting rods should be, but those may have been for different vehicles/model years. I know GM loves to go cookie cutter, and I believe the body of this is mostly GM (looks more like their engineering more than Hondas), while the powertrain is all Honda.

Yep, while you were messing with it something changed, you could try some WD40 as well which should help, but if you want a 100% fix replace the latch, I have included the instructions in the diagrams below. Thanks for the image. Check out the diagrams (below). Please let us know if you need anything else to get the problem fixed.

I don't have the right size torx socket or torx screwdriver for the latch removal. Any idea what size I need? I don't want to buy the whole set. I was going to guess maybe Tx40.

Don't worry about it. Dad has a set I can borrow if needed, I think. And I have several located in various parts of my toolbox. I really have to get some organizational pieces. But honestly, since I closed it back up without greasing anything, it's been working fine. I randomly try it 10x and it works without a miss. Idk but I'll take it. Always happy when problems fix themselves.
