I took it off cruise control the engine shut off?

I was driving my truck and when I took it off cruise control the engine shut off and I heard a light sound of something breaking. The engine will crank but not start. I tested all the fuse and relays. I’m not sure if it has something to do with the crankshaft pulley. I tested the sensors. They’re both good thing I noticed but not sure about is if I manually turn the crankshaft pulley the timing belt doesn’t move. Also, the timing belt has tension and isn’t broken.

Hi,

If the timing belt has broken, we likely have more unknown damage. Are you sure it is broken? Is it possible for you to record the engine cranking and upload it for me to hear?

This vehicle has an interference engine. Simply, if the timing is off far enough, the clearance between the piston tops and the valves doesn't provide the needed room and often they hit causing valve, piston, or cylinder head damage. If that happened, it is likely cheaper to replace the engine than repair it.

If you record it cranking, I should be able to tell if there is a compression issue. Or here is a link that explains how to do a compression test. If you do this, let me know the results.
