Had to use my truck listed above 1500 4.7l gas to run a errand the other day. It had a small radiator leak, so I put water in it before I left. After about 10 minutes it just red lined hot (was watching the gauges due to radiator leak, temperature was fine before red lining) and popped up an said check gauges. I immediately pulled over, popped the hood and saw that I hadn't put the cap back on the radiator (fighting with kids to get ready an forgot). Add some water an let sit for 20 minutes, did not want to start back up at first but finally did. But once I did get it started back up, it would not idle on its own. So had it towed back to the house. Next morning replaced the radiator, added fluid and burped the system. When I go to start it, it wont start unless I pump the gas pedal while starting it, it will then start. But once it starts I am still having the same issue with it not idling on its own and the heat isn't working. Any advice on what the problem could be, besides possible blown head?

Hi,

Due to the vehicle overheating and now you have these issues we have to assume we have compression issues. This means we need to run a compression check and then a cylinder leak test just to be sure.

Let me know what the compression readings are and we can go from there. Thanks
