Just picked this truck up at a whooping $600.00. It was running fine; now it tends to shut off frequently. I can start it and it will idle fine for five to ten maybe even fifteen minutes then just suddenly shuts off and I cannot get it started again. It will turn over but not crank. Maybe it is flooding itself out? Today it started up fine but after driving it around the neighborhood for twenty minutes it shut off while driving. Smells rich when running. New spark plugs and wires. Any thoughts?

When the engine does not start up does the ignition have spark? Here is a guide to help us get started:

Please let us know what you find.

Yes it does. Someone told me today that it is the fuel selector valve.

Yep the selector valve caused big problems like you have described, I would replace the valve and see what happens, Ford has them in stock, (big surprise) it is located on the frame rial near the two tanks

I was having trouble locating it when looking so I decided to remove the bed.I am struggling with that due to one bolt. The one on the driver side that comes down next to the fuel lines is a real pain to get to. To top it off the nut has started to round off on me. Any advice there?

Sorry I didn't get back t you before. I ended up cutting the bolt out. But as it turns out the problem was the starter all along.

Now I have a missing transmission drain plug. Any idea on the specs of it or where I can find one?
