Drove ten miles with no transmission oil

Changed oil, drained transmission by mistake added 5 quarts oil anyway. started and drove 10 miles but with no transmission oil stayed in first gear. I think transmission is broken but what effect on engine.

Good afternoon,

Yes, you most likely damaged the transmission and will have to be rebuilt.

As far as the engine, drain the oil and add the proper amount.

I bet it smokes a bit. I do not think you damaged the engine. The smoke will go away when all the oil is burned off.
