Charging System

I brought a new battery and in the same day it went flat. Also, my car seems to have troubles going up hills.

Sounds like you have a charging system problem. If that is not working, a good, fully-charged battery will run the engine for perhaps as much as an hour; less if you have a lot of electrical stuff turned on.

Have the charging system tested. If you want to, you can do the first part of the test yourself. Use an inexpensive digital voltmeter to measure the battery's voltage when the engine is running. It must be between 13.75 and 14.75 volts. If that is what you find, it is okay to do the second half of the test but that requires a professional load tester. That will measure full-load output current and "ripple" voltage.
