We have replaced everything from the distributor, cap, rotor, plugs, gaskets, heads, and even tried the computer out of our manual S-10. The S-10 manual computer worked, but sputtered. With everything brand new it is not hitting on the sixth cylinder. Only will run on five. Have been told to just replace the computer and have it flashed.
Any suggestions?

First thing is to put old computer back in it otherwise security will have to be reprogrammed. then check for a vacuum leak and compression on that cylinder also check fuel pressure with a gauge auto parts rent it. should be 60-66 psi key on only. then have it scanned for codes unless a misfire code comes up. which would be a 306 code. see link for fuel pump.

Hi RIDDELLRODNEY,

If you decide you would like to conduct the scan yourself here is a link to an article that features written step by step instructions and pictures explaining how to do the scan yourself, also I have included a link to our YouTube channel with a how to video on code scanning.

This is applicable even if your check engine light is not on.

Most scanners are inexpensive to purchase, you can purchase one online from sites like Amazon.com

Once you have the codes please get back to us so that we can further assist you. We are always happy to help.

Thank you for visiting 2CarPros.com.
