Will a 2005 3/4 ton transmission fit a 2000 1/2 ton Chevrolet?

Not very likely. GM used various transmissions in those years and it depends on exactly which transmission you have now and which transmission the 2005 has.
The 1/2 ton commonly has a 4L60-E transmission while the 3/4 ton usually has the larger 4L80-E to handle the 6.0 engine.

Depends on the suburban they came with a variety as well. An easy solution to track a transmission would be to go to car-part. Com. Enter your VIN number and the rest of the information. It will show you the years and vehicles that use the same transmission. (It also shows salvage yards with them but you can use the site simply as a parts matching item).
