I have an ignition issue. 2002 CRV ...My car needed to be moved for street sweeper. Only my keys were in someone's property that was incarcerated. So a friend of mine took a heat gun and melted away the entire ignition area so he could put the car into gear and push it. It worked. Only he jacked up the whole thing. The two transponders, one in the immobilizer box and the other in the key are fine. I know after putting in a new cylinder how to put the chip in the old key into my new one. So that part is squared. But he melted and destroyed the receiver PC board (circular part that goes around the cylinder. I know everything goes to the cars computer as far as signal of the transponder and whether it is allowed to start or not. My question is what besides a new ignition cylinder do I need. Is it called an immobilizer unit (the small box with one transponder attached to the circular part that held the PC board receiver) and if I were to buy another one would it be compatible with my transponder chips already synced with the cars computer? Thank you. Lisa T.

OK. I'm sending a pic of the immobilizer that's burned and mutilated in pieces (I tried to put the circular PC board back together so I could maybe reconnect the lines in it..bad idea) and a pic of the steering column n ignition aftermath.

No problem, that is definitely melted, the immobilized with need to be reprogrammed by the dealer, they have to connect to the main Honda data base for safety issues. Sorry I couldn't be more help.

Well I'm being told that since the transponders are still intact and undamaged that I don't need to reprogram anything ....that I just need to repair the antenna that sends the signal to the car computer

Just to add to this one that ring is called the immobilizer control unit-receiver.If it's replaced even if you used the same key chip that was programmed to the car.You still have to rewrite it's called the new part to the immobilizer itself. With a hds which is a factory Honda scan tool or a comparable aftermarket scan tool that can do that.
